Cacti are essentially spikey succulents that come in all shapes and sizes. They can grow a few inches a year, and take little work to maintain, making them great practice for those new to plant care. Just like in the desert, cacti require as much sunlight as you can spare them. Also, they require very little water. As such, its soil should be well-draining. The best practice is to thoroughly mist, not water, on a weekly basis. During the winter, misting should be reduced significantly, with just a light application every 2 to 4 weeks.
