General Info

Calathea plants are part of the family of plants known as Marantaceae, which is a species of flowering plants from tropical areas such as Africa. They are famous for their wide, green, colorful leaves
As for flowers, Calathea do often bloom in the wild, but they tend not to bloom much indoors
Calathea's leaves come in all shapes and sizes: waved, ridged, round, pointy or oval shaped. They're also not scared of pattern

Watering

Your Calathea will need very regular watering, never being allowed to dry out

They are highly susceptible to root rot, so planting in a high draining soil is essential

High humidity is essential to maintaining your tree, supplemental humidity will almost always be required- a humidity tray is the best way to do this

Light Requirements

They need a consistently warm spot and bright

Keeping a high light level is crucial to the health of the tree, supplementing with a grow light can be necessary during the winter season

They will enjoy a spot with full sun, but ensure they are not exposed to direct afternoon light as the foliage will burn very easily
