Get a year+ head start with these pineapple plants, as these fruit take their time! It takes 12 – 14 months for a new pineapple plant to grow the first sign of a bud. In another 2 years, that bud becomes a delicious, ripe pineapple! Though the pineapple has nothing to do with pine trees or apples, Ananas is the only genus in the Bromeliad family to produce fruit that can be eaten! These plants grow best in bright light, and should be kept humid, with gentle airflow. The soil should remain moist, but have good drainage. Water when the top of the soil feels dry.
