General Info

The Natal Plum is native to South Africa, and can grow up to 7 feet tall

They have small, leathery oval foliage with thorns along each branch, tucked under each set of adjacent leaves

Under proper conditions, they are a very fast growing variety which allows for plenty of opportunity for styling

Watering

The Natal Plum is a drought tolerant variety, but will thrive with a consistent watering schedule

Giving a thorough water when the soil is almost dry will allow for consistent growth

Planting in a high draining soil will help to prevent overwatering, as well as lower the likelihood of root rot

Providing a humidity tray will allow you to see your Natal Plum grow to its full potential

Light Requirements

A Natal Plum will do best when given at least 4 hours of direct sun per day, but can be acclimatized to more indirect light

A South or East facing window, or adjacent will be well suited for this variety as they like to have afternoon shade

If enough natural light cannot be provided, it will be beneficial to supplement with grow lights
