General Info

At Tropical Expressions, we regularly offer a selection of 8 different varieties- Tigerbark, Green Island, TooLittle, Mistletoe, Wiandi, Oriental, and Ginseng

Providing consistent elevated humidity levels in a slightly matured tree can help to promote the growth of aerial roots

The Ficus, or fig tree, will never bloom- the fig fruit is an inverted flower

The Ficus are an ideal choice for a bonsai beginner, as they are very forgiving while learning to how care for a bonsai

Watering

A Ficus will appreciate drying out slightly between watering's, and then to be watered thoroughly to saturate the soil and roots

Occasional over or under watering will be tolerated by any Ficus, but having a regular schedule will be beneficial for the overall growth of the tree

A humidity tray is beneficial, and misting is not recommended as it can cause fungus on the foliage

Light Requirements

The Ficus will appreciate a very bright spot with a moderate amount of direct sunlight

They are tolerant to less direct sun, but will thrive in a sunny spot

Make sure to avoid exposed to direct afternoon sun, as it can easily burn the foliage

An East facing window is a great place to grow your ficus!
