Being “living fossils”, these cycads, which are not true palms, date back to the early Mesozoic Era and are native to the southern Japanese isles. They thrive in bright light to full sun, requiring ventilation from overheating in hot spots. They aren’t picky about soil but will prefer well-draining, sandy soil. This cycad can tolerate short droughts.
